Debating Europe: Effects of the “Eurovision Debate” on EU Attitudes of Young German Voters and the Moderating Role Played by Political Involvement

In the run-up to the elections to the European Parliament in 2014, EU citizens had the unprecedented opportunity to watch televised debates between the candidates running for president of the European Commission. The most important debate was the so-called "Eurovision debate", which was broadcasted in almost all EU member states. In this study we explore the responses of a sample of 110 young German voters, who watched this debate, to the candidates' messages and whether exposure to the debate caused a shift in the respondents' attitudes towards the EU. The essay examines the first years of Nilde Iotti's activity in the European Parliament, to highlight her reflections, the battles waged for the construction of a European democratic power. An experience, in the European Parliament, which began in 1969 and ended in 19792, the year in which Iotti left the European seat to occupy the seat of the first female President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic. Nilde Iotti's participation in the European Parliament, a further stage in her "progression", a term she preferred to that of "career", was the result of a new strategy of the Italian Communist Party on the subject of European integration.

Šī darba mērķis ir pētīt humora sinhronas tulkošanas stratēģijas Eiropas Parlamenta plenārsēdēs. Darba pirmā nodaļa sniedz ieskatu humora vēsturē, aplūko humora uzbūvi un starptautiskās konferencēs biežāk izmantotos humora veidus, kā arī nozīmīgākās humora pētniecības teorijas. Darba otrajā daļā autore apraksta sinhronās tulkošanas stratēģijas, kā arī faktorus, kas ietekmē vārdspēles tulkošanu. Empīriskajā daļā salīdzinošā analīzē tiek pētītas pielietotās humora sinhronās tulkošanas taktikas latviešu un igauņu valodās. Towards a European public sphere? A Comparative Study of the Facebook Activities of Danish and Spanish Members of the European Parliament

This comparative study examines the everyday Facebook activities of all Danish and Spanish members of the European Parliament (MEPs), and the extent to which there is a real political conversation between citizens and European representatives. Through content analysis, it analyzes the Facebook practices of a significantly under-studied population (MEPs) during a non-campaign period (January 15 to February 15, 2017) while most of recent research has overwhelmingly focused on campaign periods.
